Roofing Wenonah

Siding

Siding in Wenonah, NJ

Plenty of roofers list cladding and mean it loosely. We take on the walls the roof touches, and we are straight about where our competence ends.

Dormers clad in shingle siding on a steep roof

The walls a roof is responsible for

A dormer cheek, a gable end above the gutter line, the short return where a lower roof runs into the wall above it: these are cladding by material and roofing by geometry. They fail for roofing reasons, they are reached off roofing staging, and they are repaired by people who understand how water moves down a slope. That is the work we take on, and it is most of what actually goes wrong with siding on a house in this borough.

What we handle

  • Dormer cheeks and faces

Stripped back, the junction detailed properly, and the boards replaced in the same run.

  • Gable and rake trim

The exposed timber at the top of a wall, which weathers long before the field does.

  • Kick-out flashings

The small piece almost nobody fits, and the reason a wall is wet below a roof edge.

  • Wall-to-roof step flashing

Renewed into the cladding rather than smeared over it, which is the only version that lasts.

  • Storm board replacement

Impact damage made good in the same visit as the roof it came with.

  • Fascia and soffit runs

The horizontal boards the gutter hangs off, and the vented soffit the roof breathes through.

What we will pass on

A whole-house re-clad is a different trade with different staging, and we will say so rather than take it and learn on your wall. The same goes for structural wall repair, masonry and window replacement. We would rather do a dormer properly than do an elevation adequately. If what you need is the elevation, we will tell you on the inspection.

Sequence, when both are due

Where the roof is also coming off, the wall work happens while the staging is up and the junctions are open. Doing it afterwards means cutting back into finished covering, which is money spent twice. If the roof is years away yet, the wall can be dealt with on its own. We will just detail the junction so it can be opened again cleanly later.

Start with the free inspection

Somebody climbs up, goes over the roof properly and leaves you with a written figure. No charge for the visit and nothing booked off the back of it.
